We Love Our Christmas Picnics

For many years now, it has been our Christmas Eve tradition to wander into the woodlands for a winter picnic lunch. The location shifts from time to time, allowing us to celebrate a different corner of the estate’s wooded hills. Fires are lit, games unfold, and the air fills with the scent of simmering soups and barbecued meats cooked over open flames, all accompanied by a little live music.

This woodland gathering marks the beginning of our Christmas celebrations. As dusk settles, we ready ourselves for more solemn and sacred moments: the candlelit procession leading from the stables to the castle’s chapel, where a carol-sung mass awaits. Afterwards, we return to the castle fires, Bull Shots in hand, to share warmth, laughter and the first glow of Christmas night.
