We Love Our Spring Affair
Spring is held in high regard here at Reschio and, as we emerge from winter’s quiet hibernation at the end of March, we celebrate its arrival with gusto. This year, for the third time, we dedicate an entire day to this joyful transition with The Spring Affair.
At the beginning of April, the Old Stables come alive as masters of age-old crafts gather to share their knowledge, practising time-honoured techniques passed from one pair of hands to another. Guests can try their hand at weaving on an ancient loom, or gently shaping clay on a wheel. Embroidering and learning calligraphy are among other skills to be learnt, alongside paper marbling and basket weaving.
Carrying out these activities, and watching an object gradually take form is both simple and yet deeply profound — an awakening of the senses that fulfills the deeply human desire to create. Through these acts of slow creation, the process becomes just as meaningful as the finished piece. Each gesture encourages patience, presence, and an appreciation for craftsmanship that values intention over speed.
While hands are busied, a live band provides a merry musical backdrop and the enticing aromas of seasonal refreshments drift through the air. Overhead, calls from the falconer’s birds echo all around as they circle gracefully throughout the sky before returning to a gloved hand.
