Christmas Beyond Reschio

As winter settles over the hills surrounding Reschio, the villages of Umbria and Tuscany assume a different charm. Medieval squares, workshops and winding lanes become the setting for cherished festive rituals: leisurely strolls, encounters with local artisans, seasonal cuisine and landscapes all the more appreciated in the stillness of winter.

In Arezzo, Christmas brings the entire historic centre to life. From 14 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, Arezzo Città del Natale fills the streets and squares with festive markets and enchanting light displays. At its heart lies Piazza Grande, where the Tyrolean Christmas Market returns until 27 December. Wooden chalets, handcrafted treasures and Alpine delicacies find their place among historic palazzi, illuminated by spectacular projections. At Parco Il Prato, another market invites visitors to discover local products and thoughtful gifts, while the Ferris wheel offers sweeping views across the city.

Just a short distance from Reschio, Castel Rigone offers a more intimate celebration. On weekends throughout November and December, this small medieval village welcomes artisan markets, regional delicacies and festive music. It is an invitation to wander its stone-paved streets and discover the charm of local traditions.

In Gubbio, festive celebrations take place on a bigger scale . Wooden market stalls fill Piazza Quaranta Martiri, while the celebrated illuminated Christmas tree lights up the slopes of Monte Ingino, visible throughout the town. A remarkable sight that lends even greater magic to the village’s medieval skyline.

Christmas is reflected in the water in Castiglione del Lago. From 5 December to 6 January, Luci sul Trasimeno invites visitors to admire an enormous illuminated Christmas tree stretching across the surface of the lake. A panoramic walkway, festive stalls and an ice-skating rink set the scene for a winter stroll between the historic centre and the lakeshore.

From 5 to 27 December in Perugia, Natale alla Rocca hosts a range of local artisans within the underground passageways of the Rocca Paolina. This is unexpected setting in which to find distinctive gifts and discover a lesser-known side of the city.

From Reschio, every excursion becomes a journey through landscapes, traditions and unexpected encounters and the return to the estate, as the lights of the villages fade into the distance, is part of the beauty of a Christmas enjoyed without haste.
