The Whispering Sparkle of Reschio
A tale of patience, intuition and a rosé that quietly became something more
When the Bolza family arrived at Reschio, they found a wild, untamed nature, yet full of life. They listened to it, and only then began to cultivate it, guided by an ethic that places respect for the soil above the demands of productivity. Three decades on, Reschio has become an example of integrated agriculture. Everything is sown with the landscape in mind; every harvest is traceable, part of a cycle that minimises waste and restores meaning to what we produce.
It is within this context that our winemaking journey also took shape. Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grechetto and Trebbiano are the grape varieties we grow with care, from which intense reds and delicate rosés are born. Some are bottled under the Reschio label, others are personalised for the owners of the houses.
Reschio’s sparkling wine has recently joined this family. It does not yet have a name: it prefers to tell its story through its fragrance, its colour, its taste. It was born from an idea whispered among the vines in 2020, then left to mature with the same patience we reserve for our fruit.
The idea was a bold one: could a land known for its deep reds give life to a sparkling wine capable of surprising? By 2024, it seemed the moment had come to find out, but the experts advised us to wait, to let the sparkling wine complete its own gestation, which came to an end in the spring of 2025.
We understood that the dream had become reality at the moment of dégorgement, that almost theatrical gesture which frees the bottle of its lees. It marked the beginning of a new chapter: 250 bottles, each hand-numbered by a calligrapher. A limited edition that celebrates a bold intuition and the generosity of the land that made it possible. Each bottle is unique and holds within it the value of waiting, of artisanal care, and of the trust we have placed in the land.
Reschio’s sparkling wine is made using the Traditional Method from Sangiovese grapes vinified as a rosé, with a dosage that falls within the Extra Brut category. It is the noblest and most time-honoured way of creating fine bubbles: a second fermentation in bottle, during which the wine evolves and gains poise. Each bottle thus becomes a small world, impossible to explain fully except by tasting it.
The packaging, too, reflects the essential character of this first release. No wooden cases, no elaborate boxes. Only a neutral, practical and understated carrier, allowing the wine itself to speak. No vintage will appear on the label: Reschio’s sparkling wine was born from an intuition, and it will not be produced every year.
The next production has not yet been planned. Nature will decide when the time is right, and we shall welcome it with a toast to the land.
